tHE NEED is REAL, AND IT’S RIGHT HERE IN OUR OWN BACKYARD.

You don't have to look far to find a community in crisis.

In Montgomery County and the greater Houston area, domestic violence is not a distant problem — it is happening on our streets, in our neighborhoods, and behind the closed doors of homes that look just like ours.

THE NEEDS IN moNTGOMERY & NOrthern harris COUNTies

Understanding the Need Close to Home

Domestic violence shelters in our area are not just full — they are overwhelmed. Survivors reach out for help every single day, and far too often, there is simply nowhere to send them.

Here is what that reality looks like in our community:

The numbers tell a sobering story:

DOMESTIC VIOLENCE

+20%

During the COVID-19 pandemic, filed domestic violence cases in Montgomery County increased an average of 20% every month — with some months reaching as high as a 50% increase over the prior year. That surge never fully subsided.

SHELTER SHORTAGES

59%

Across Texas, 59% of survivors who requested shelter in 2023 were turned away and referred elsewhere due to lack of space — up from 39% just two years earlier.

UNMET REQUESTS

1,122

Each day in Texas, 1,122 requests for help go unmet — many of them for basic housing and shelter.

LIMITED RESOURCES

330

Harris County — our neighboring county — has only 330 shelter beds for a population of 4.7 million people. New York City, with less than twice the population, has more than 10 times that number of beds.

VIOLENCE

When shelters are full and waitlists are long, survivors have nowhere to go. The Jenna Marie Foundation exists to fill that gap — providing immediate, free, and confidential support when the system cannot. But we cannot do it without you.

WHEN THE SYSTEM FALLS SHORT, COMMUNITY STEPS UP.

WHY YOUR INVOLVEMENT MATTERS.

The Jenna Marie Foundation was built on the belief that no survivor should be turned away simply because there isn't enough space or enough funding. We are not a government agency. We are a community-funded, community-driven organization — which means every dollar donated and every hour volunteered goes directly toward serving the survivors who need us most.

When you get involved, you are not just writing a check or showing up to help pack boxes. You are telling a survivor in Montgomery County that her community sees her, believes her, and is willing to fight for her safety.
